"When I joined the military, I served in the Army to make a difference and better the world. I served on Active Duty for 7 years as an Army Intelligence Officer. After separation, I found a production manager job in the manufacturing industry. It was just that - a job. I remember thinking I’m not doing anything that’s serving anybody. That idea of serving became such an identifier for me as a vet. I found myself in front on an opportunity to be an Operations Manager for Rentokil. I’ve been with the company for 8 years now, and I remember my first interview like it was yesterday. I sat down with Ron Kamzelski and he talked about the industry, what pest control offers, and why it matters. He was talking through a situation where his father who was in the industry had to service roaches in a baby’s crib.
That story captivated me during the interview. I remember thinking this company actually serves a pretty important purpose day in and day out, and it’s helping to make the world a better place. For a guy that was longing to serve again, I thought that I could find my identity and purpose here again. I got the job as an Operations Manager, and frankly speaking, I haven’t looked back. What I love about Rentokil Terminix is they don't just want to check the box after they hire a veteran; they know how to align our skill sets and leverage our talent. It’s been really cool to see how Rentokil Terminix truly has empowered veterans to continue serving a societal need.”

“When I left the military I was not looking for a particular industry. I didn't know where or what kind of position I was going to find myself in. My main priority was finding an organization that aligned with my values and my desires for a second career. When I was hired into Rentokil, I quickly learned that it was a match made in heaven because of the culture and the structure, which is very similar to the military. The company aligned with the feelings I had when I was in the army, meaning that there was a sense of team and camaraderie.
The values of loyalty, duty, and respect are very similar, and I learned over time that the company mirrored a lot of what the military does in terms of development, career progression, and leadership. I found myself in courses that were very similar to the professional development leadership training that I taught when I was an ROTC instructor.
