From an idea to a passion to a recognized industry leader, Yvette, Talent Acquisition Manager for the Pacific Market, is far more than an inside connection to open roles; she’s a pioneer unafraid of expanding outside of the box. If it means helping and making an impact on others, you’ll see her front and center, ready to step up.

Expanding her footprint even further, Yvette serves as an advocate and thought leader on the NPMA Employee Recruitment and Retention Committee. Through hard work and strong dedication to strengthening the pest management community, the committee was proudly named the 2024-2025 Committee of the Year.

With what began as a curiosity in a college course, now a driving force in her career, Yvette is sharing her inspiring journey into recruiting, detailing her influential roles as a TA Manager and industry leader, and reflecting on the committee’s meaningful achievements. Read on to learn more.

Can you briefly share your role within the Talent Acquisition team for Rentokil Terminix?

I am the Talent Acquisition Manager for the Pacific Market. I’ve been with the company since March 2019. I first discovered my passion for recruiting during my undergraduate studies while taking a Human Resources course. When my professor introduced the topics of recruiting and training, something immediately clicked for me. Later, when I began my career with Rentokil, that interest turned into a true passion as I found myself genuinely enjoying the recruiting process and the impact it has on the business and our people.

Can you briefly share the purpose of the NPMA Employee Recruitment and Retention Committee, how you became involved in the group, and what your role looks like?

The purpose of the NPMA Employee Recruitment and Retention Committee is to support the industry by developing strategies, resources, and best practices that help organizations attract, engage, and retain top talent. The committee focuses on understanding workforce trends, sharing insights, and creating tools that strengthen recruitment and retention efforts across the pest management industry.

I became involved in the group after one of our Branch Managers, Vivian, invited me to join. She felt it would be a great fit based on my background in Talent Acquisition, and I was excited about the opportunity to contribute at an industry level.

Within the committee, my role involves participating in discussions, sharing insights from the TA perspective, and helping shape initiatives and resources that support companies in improving their recruitment and retention strategies.

Could you share the significance of this award and what winning it means to you?

This award is significant because it recognizes the hard work, dedication, and passion that go into supporting our teams and strengthening our industry. Talent Acquisition can often be behind-the-scenes work, so being acknowledged in this way is truly meaningful. It highlights the impact that effective recruiting and retention efforts have on our people, our branches, and the overall success of our organization.

Winning this award means a great deal to me. It’s an honor to be recognized by peers within the industry, and it reinforces my commitment to building strong, engaged teams. It also reminds me of the incredible support system I have—from colleagues who collaborate with me to leaders who trust in the work that I do. This recognition motivates me to continue improving, innovating, and contributing to the future of our workforce.

In what ways does the committee contribute to the recruiting industry, and what do you hope others gain from its efforts?

The committee plays a valuable role by fostering collaboration among professionals who are all facing similar workforce challenges. We analyze trends, share what’s working in the field, and develop guidance that helps companies attract and keep talented individuals.

My hope is that others walk away with actionable insights, a sense of community, and the knowledge that they’re not navigating recruitment challenges alone.

What is one key lesson or best practice you learned while serving on the committee that you have successfully brought back to directly benefit your team at Rentokil Terminix?

A key lesson I’ve applied is the importance of consistent communication and a streamlined hiring process. Since adopting these practices, we’ve seen smoother workflows and a better experience for both candidates and hiring managers.

How does receiving this award inspire your professional goals, and how do you see that showing up in your work over time?

Receiving this award is a strong reminder of the responsibility and opportunity I have to influence the employee experience within our organization. It inspires me to continue advancing my skills, staying ahead of industry trends, and pushing for innovative approaches in Talent Acquisition. Over time, I see this showing up in my work through more strategic planning, enhanced partnerships with leaders, and a continued focus on building long-term, sustainable talent pipelines that support our business goals.
