From an aspiring intern to full-time colleague, Andrew’s career journey shows how following your passions can open the door to new possibilities. During his time in the 2024 Summer Internship Program, he embraced every opportunity to grow and learn, paving the way for success in his current role as a Paid Media and Affiliate Marketing Analyst.

We connected with Andrew to reflect on his internship, learn about his career transition, and inspire future interns who are looking for career advice.

During my internship, I worked with the Commercial Marketing team, where I supported initiatives focused on pest control solutions for commercial clients. My responsibilities included assisting with campaign development, analyzing performance data, and helping coordinate marketing efforts across the team. Today, I serve as a Paid Media and Affiliate Marketing Analyst, where I manage affiliate partnerships, optimize paid media campaigns, and identify new opportunities to drive customer growth through digital channels.

I chose to continue my career with Rentokil Terminix because of the supportive culture and clear opportunities for professional growth. From the beginning, my colleagues and leaders encouraged me to expand my skill set and explore new areas of marketing. When a role opened that aligned with both my interests and my career goals, I knew this was the right place to continue building my future.

My internship gave me a strong foundation in understanding how our marketing strategies connect to the needs of our customers, especially in the commercial space. It also taught me the importance of collaboration and communication across teams. That experience helps me now as I manage paid media and affiliate programs—I approach each project with a mindset of alignment, making sure our campaigns not only perform well but also support broader business objectives.

As an intern, I primarily supported projects and learned from the Commercial Marketing team. Since transitioning to a full-time role, I’ve been given the opportunity to take ownership of key initiatives in paid media and affiliate marketing, work directly with external partners, and contribute ideas on how to grow our digital presence. The level of responsibility and impact has increased significantly, and it’s been exciting to see how my work helps drive results for the company.

I would tell myself to be confident in sharing ideas. As an intern, I sometimes hesitated to speak up, but I’ve learned that fresh perspectives are valuable, and Rentokil Terminix provides a supportive environment where all voices are heard.

I’d encourage future interns to be curious and take initiative. The more you ask questions, volunteer to help, and connect with colleagues, the more you’ll learn and make an impact. It’s also a great opportunity to show your potential for growth within the company, since so many internships can lead to full-time roles.
